Official start construction watersquare

On October 29th the construction of the Benthemplein watersquare has officially begun. By emptying a bathtub of rainwater the start was inaugurated by city elderman Alexandra van Huffelen, borough representative Nils Berndsen and Chris van der Velden of waterboard Schieland en Krimpenerwaard.

Within the next months the Benthemplein will transform into the first multifunctional watersquare in the world. Construction is planned to be finished in the spring of 2013. Watch a summary of the opening ceremony here.
